This is a new hard
cover book dealing with the creation of vintage Star Wars toys, from
concept, to mock up and the making of early prototypes, back in 1977
to 1986.
In 2010, two of the
biggest worldwide collectors, Gus Lopez and Duncan Jenkins came up
with a similar book named The
Gus and Duncan’s Guide to Star Wars Prototypes.
All photos, sketches
or proof sheets seen in this book come from those two guys personnal
collection.

The main difference,
and a pretty big one, with Engineering an Empire is
that this time, and surely for the first time ever to
my knowledge, this latest book is the work of former artists who
worked for KENNER. And this is probably what gives to this beautiful
art
book a biggest value for main vintage toys collectors or just Star
Wars toys collectors.

This
is Volume 1, referencing bibliography about many employees of Kenner
back in the 80’s. And also some rare and unseen pictures
of first shots
action figures, sculpting progress or final results.
One
of the most interesting point of this book is to see how people
worked, over 30 years ago, to create all the action figures,
starships and playsets that shaped our childhood.

about the great Kenner
company, and the artists who worked for, and designed not only Star
Wars toys, but plenty of others now becoming iconic among collectors.
